Lecturers’ perception on the implementation of approaches to teaching literature in EFL classrooms

چکیده

The selection of appropriate approach(es) to teaching literature in EFL classrooms becomes a necessity that they can result good performance the students, both their critical thinking aspect and language proficiency. problem appears when lecturer does not implement suitable approach literary analysis students. These problems led student’s inability perform as expected. present study examines how lecturers perceive implementation approaches relations improving students’ reflective writing skills manifestation student’ responses works. Among studied were Language-based approach, Reader-Response Philosophical approach. was carried out on six Literary Criticism course at university level. A questionnaire distributed this Semarang, Indonesia, containing eight-question items regarding effective used them skills, encouraging students think critically about events works relating readings some aspects own lives. revealed each has its benefits characteristics. results also showed strengths weaknesses differ from one another.
